VELVETEEN MICROFIBRE, A TYPE OF TEXTILE WASTE CAN BE CONVERTED INTO ENERGY

A scientific research team from Kaunas University of Technology and Lithuania Energy Research Institute put forward a method to convert velveteen microfibre in clothes dryer into energy. The team created a trial pyrolytic device and developed a mathematical model to measure the economic and environmental benefits that may be brought by the technology. The researches estimate that 14t petroleum, 21.5t natural gas and 10t coke can be generated by converting the velveteen microfibre from the clothes of 1 million people.
