AUDI X STELLA MCCARTNEY, ECO FASHION REGENERATIVE DESIGN

2021/06/23
"Design Shanghai", an Asia's leading international design gala, was solemnly held in Shanghai on June 3. As an exclusive sponsorship partner, Audi joined hands with the well-known fashion brand Stella McCartney for further joint co-creation under the theme of "Regenerative Design". This cooperation represented cross-border integration of bold and emotional fashion design with automobile industry, which not only vividly shown Audi's deep thinking on luxury mobile travel in the future, but also made Audi's "people-centered" brand transformation become more emotional.

ONLY WHEN IT IS RENEWABLE CAN IT BE SUSTAINABLE

The original aspiration of developing electrification is targeted at energy conservation and sustainability. However, the full life cycle of vehicle, from research and development, production, use and scrapping throughout the automobile industry, are related to the use of non-renewable materials. Therefore, it's not enough to realize sustainable development only by electrification.

Stella McCartney has been committed to reducing waste through technical means. The Falabella Logo Go backpack exhibited this time is made of Econyl, which composed of 100% recycled nylon fiber. So as the Audi and Audi e-tron GT quattro exhibited this time. First, Audi e-tron GT quattro is the first type of Audi model before mass production without the help of a physical prototype at the design level. All assembly processes have been tested and optimized in a virtual space.

In the selection of interior materials, Audi e-tron GT quattro, featuring free of leather, is chiefly made of renewable materials. Carpets and floor mats are made of Econyl composed of 100% recycled nylon fibers, which came from production waste, abandoned textiles, old carpets or old fishing nets. In addition, Audi e-tron GT quattro has also seen zero carbon dioxide footprint. Its factories are supported by eco-electricity, which is provided by the thermal power plant using biogas as fuel.

This shows that Audi and Stella McCartney are enterprises that attach great importance to save energy and protect environment. The cooperation between the two cross-border fields has not only attracted attention, but also shown Audi's determination to plan for the next century and realize all-round sustainable development. It is reported that FAW-Audi will be "all in e-tron" in the future. By 2022, 10 types of electric vehicles will be produced and 4 of them are produced at home.

In this gala, Audi broke the limit of traditional single site, innovatively building the joint stands of Audi x Stella McCartney and walk-in iconic art installation. The two stands are linked inside and outside, which shows Audi s deep thinking on the application of "regenerative design" in the automobile manufacturing process and the promotion of sustainable development with innovative technologies. Meanwhile, it firmly demonstrates Audi's determination to transform into a top-end sustainable mobile travel service provider.
