According to the International Cotton Advisory Committee’s (ICAC) August 2021 edition of Cotton This Month, global cotton production is expected to increase by 3% to 25 million tonne in 2021/22. During the year, consumption is expected to rise by 12.4%.

The United States’ production is expected to increase by 22 percent to 3.8 million metric tons from the previous year’s production. India’s production is expected to remain high, at about 5.9 million tonnes, while Brazil’s production is expected to be around 2.3 million tonnes. The global consumption of cotton is expected to rise by 12.4% to 25.5 million metric tons by 2021/22. COVID-19 cases are on the rise again, resulting in factory closures and shipping issues, which threatens to derail consumption levels.
